The best Chinese restaurant in town, with a satisfaction achieved in an iconic location, the Shangri-La restaurants. The reputation of this top-of-the-range hotel chain could not tolerate banality, so every means is provided to obtain the best result. On the fourth floor of the most illuminated building on the Corniche, the setting and ambience remain those of a grand hotel, with its variously decorated rooms and mocktail bar ; the service is attentive, even if the pace is a little jerky (starters arrive straight away, before a half-hour gap for the main courses) and the essential is in the plate : real cuisine, intelligent, tasty, using fresh, carefully chosen produce. A pleasant succession of appetizers before chicken dumplings with aromatic spicy vinegar dipping sauce, prepared whole fish (a Red Sea grouper), perfectly cut with no fishbones, pickled cabbage, soup, tofu, Sichuan pepper vermicelli for an excellent broth. Accompanied by a melting, juicy eggplant, with a mushroom-meat sauce for umami and an irresistible spicy salty sweetness. A more conventional but well-crafted dessert, with a rice paste surrounding a tasty raspberry appliance. Good mocktails in a classic and rather limited drinks offer.
