Gault&Millau's review 2026

Mirzam is a serene Saudi breakfast, brunch and lunch spot that blends modern warmth with subtle ethnic touches. The restaurant occupies a simple nondescript bay alongside other shops. A curated menu balances familiar and regional flavors, featuring dishes like shakshoukah, kibda hikazi, date hummus, beef mugalgal and mandi fool. The zaatar hummus is smooth and subtly aromatic, though somewhat restrained in flavor. The Saudi foul impresses with a perfect balance of thick and fluid textures, enriched by tahini and brightened with parsley. Presentation throughout is precise and attractive, with dishes arriving well-garnished and visually harmonious. Portions are carefully arranged, with plates and bowls enhancing the food’s colors and textures. The bread basket offers three oven-fresh varieties, including the standout khamees bread, warm and flavorful — reflecting the kitchen’s respect for traditional craftsmanship. Tableware reflects an earthy ethnic style, with natural textures and handcrafted pottery adding character. The foul, for instance, is served in a polished stainless-steel and gold bowl, a refined contrast to rustic details. Overall, Mirzam delivers a focused satisfying exploration of local tastes.
