Gault&Millau's review 2026

Here is a truly grown-up restaurant, the kind you find very rarely in Jeddah, and even in the Peninsula as a whole. From the welcome to the service, from the open kitchen to the well-paced sequence of courses, everything is well controlled and professional, nothing is overplayed or imitated, with a smoothness that rises far above the brasserie image suggested by the name. French chef Thomas Colette brings his own ideas to the classics, such as the French onion soup, the mussels and fries, and even the excellent slow-roasted tomato tart, which could just as well be served as a dessert. The atmosphere is chic without being forced or flashy, and the kindness and attentiveness of the staff—special mention to Alex and his sunny Italian accent—contribute greatly to the experience. Dishes from the French bourgeois repertoire, foie gras, sole meunière, pepper steak, and all the great sauces (béarnaise...) appear on a real printed menu that makes your mouth water, replacing the usual QR code. There are also seasonal dishes based on regional ingredients, such as chicken or a gratinated najel served with hollandaise sauce and a delicate, pleasantly tangy chive oil. Current desserts are announced verbally—a very good chocolate mousse—interesting drinks menu, with juices and mocktails, alcohol-free wines and beers worth discovering.
