Gault&Millau's review 2026

On the edge of a busy road, this Café Lilou with a French touch has taken its Belle Époque-inspired décor quite far, with gold and garnet tones, red velvet, a mezzanine like a boudoir, and wrought iron… As for the menu and the overall vibe, there are a few nods as well, within an enormous selection that spans the seasonal menu and the classic options, drawing on various influences, mainly Levantine and Indian, with somewhat surreal dish names (Misstinguett, La Gloire, Rimbaud Shrimp…). Portions are very generous, to the point where they can easily be shared. The slightly dry kibbeh comes with a well chosen side of salad, cherry tomatoes, and condiments, while the tandoori chicken with its green rice is paired with a bright pink beetroot raita and bears a name whose meaning isn’t immediately obvious (“Théâtre de Montmartre”). A wide array of desserts includes the generous “Mango Delight,” a mango and raspberry coulis entremets that is rather pleasant. And just like the musical backdrop, where one hears almost Yves Montand, almost Barbara, almost Edith Piaf, it’s almost Paris.
