Gault&Millau's review 2026

Set slightly back from the main boulevard that encircles the city, this restaurant, housed in a traditional terracotta building, cultivates a strong singularity with its huge, high, wide and richly colored entrance, in front of which stands a life-size painted dromedary flanked by a white Buick, an orange Beetle and a traditional tent. The stage is set and, once inside, you can wander around this mini-museum that pays homage to Saudi tradition. After placing (and paying for) your order at the entrance, you take a seat in one of the majlis set around a vast and superb tree-lined patio. A large sheet of plastic is used as a tablecloth to protect the carpet, and after removing your shoes, you sit on the floor, armed with a paper towel and happily dig into the large sharing dish that arrives. It's simple, generously served, patiently cooked, the meats (chicken, camel) are melt-in-the-mouth and the accompanying sauces well-spiced. It's an exotic experience concluding with a homemade dessert (crème caramel, rice pudding), all at unbeatable prices.
