One of those improbable places that show a real and symbolic facet of Saudi cuisine in a simple and popular restaurant, with broad influences from the Oriental world, from North Africa to India. You eat directly from the paper tablecloth that serves as a sideboard in this village-style dining hall. The menu is on display at the counter, where you can choose, for example, fish-and-chips-like fried fish with Indian-style sauce, chicken in two sizes (whole or half) with good rice, and one of the three desserts of the moment (ah! no, there were none available at today’s lunch). With the small salad of fresh raw vegetables brought with the dishes, the bag of plastic cutlery, and the regulars occupying the hidden lounges with their welcoming carpets, this slice of typical life won't cost you much more than 60 SAR.
